The Innkeepers (2011) Review

The Innkeepers (Ti West)

The trailer for the movie was very intriguing for an avid seeker of a great thriller/horror/paranormal movie. But, like many movies, 1/4 of what was in the trailer wasn’t in the movie. The movie was slow but realistic. The main actors, while not well known, acted exactly how I would expect people to act in real life, given the circumstance, which was a nice change (and you must keep age in perspective as well). Kelly McGillis’ role seemed out of place and odd. She really didn’t add anything to the movie except a barely known Hollywood name.

The “ghost(s)” hardly make an appearance in the movie and really just show up for the cheap, expected scare.

I’m glad I didn’t spend the dough to go to the theater to see this. However, even though I only gave two stars, this would be a good movie for the younger audience and those that scare easily. I’m not upset for spending the 101 minutes watching it as it did have many purposely (and some not) funny moments. Hard core horror fans should stay away…you’ve been warned.

Rated R for some bloody images and language
